The basic infrastructure of fibre-optic supply is now reaching the big cities. The development of apartment buildings is a particular hurdle: often the provider installs the fibre optic transfer points (ONTs) in the basement, but does not offer a solution for forwarding the individual connections to the flats.
Experience shows that this task is assigned to the owners‘ association: they are supposed to provide the necessary subsequent wiring. As a rule, this is associated with great effort and expense and requires a high degree of coordination between owners and the property management. Moreover, in some cases, such as in listed buildings, new cables are often not allowed to be laid.
We also offer a solution for apartment buildings that uses existing telephone or coax cabling in the building. It can be implemented quickly and without construction measures. It is compatible with any fibre provider and scalable to buildings of any size.
When using telephone cables, the use of G.hn master switches is essential. All our telephone switches and endpoints support both SISO (2-wire) and MIMO (4-wire) operation, which allows the range to be extended further. Thanks to G.now vectoring technology (VectorBoost), symmetrical 1 Gbit connections are also possible via twisted pairs within a cable bundle.
As coaxial cables are generally well-shielded, signals can be routed to each household using two modems, even in apartment blocks with structured coaxial cabling. Satellite reception is maintained on this line, and parallel operation with CATV from 258 MHz is also possible.

Installation example: telephone cables are used – 12 party residential complex.
