Wi-Fi hotspot installation using G.hn and PoE

Goal:

Wi-Fi mesh installation in a 5-story apartment building.

Execution:

Broadband connection with 550/50 Mbit was distributed from the basement of the building to all floors using G.hn technology. The G4224 G.hn Switch mit PoE was used.

The WLAN mesh system is based on access points from Ubiquity.

Each access point got its own connection via the existing telephone cable. The performance reducing Wi-Fi repeater mode was not used.

In addition, the Internet connection and the entire Wi-Fi solution were secured against power failures by a UPS.

Due to a lack of local power supply G4202TCP PoE G.hn Modems were used in the stairwell for the supply line.

The modem transmits data and power to the access point via Ethernet cable with PoE.

G4201T G.hn Modems were used in the apartments.

Each modem supplies the access point with data and power via the intermediate PoE injector.
