OnAccess G42xx-T – Network over Phone cable

OnAccess G42xx-T is based on the latest technology for in-house networking - G.hn Wave 2, which can use any type of twisted-pair cable (CAT 1-7) - including, of course, the telephone cables found in almost every household.

Depending on the device, data transmission can be carried out both in SISO (1 wire pair, 2-200 MHz) and MIMO (2 wire pairs, 2-100 MHz) mode.

For a connection you always need 2 G.hn end devices - a master (headend or modem as master) and a client (modem) - which are connected to the respective end of the telephone cable ("point-to-point" connection). The master specifies the transfer rates for download and upload.

Practical application

The OnAccess G42xx-T series includes several G.hn headends and G.hn modems:

  • In the simplest case - if you want to establish a network connection using only a telephone cable - two identical G.hn modems are sufficient. One of them takes over the role of the master, the other one - the role of the client.

  • If you want to build a network over several telephone cables, it is recommended to use a G.hn Headends (alternative name GAM = G.hn Access Multiplexer).

    It always acts as a master and allows the connection of several G.hn modems (4 to 24 depending on the headend) and the central management of the network.

    For even larger networks, several headends can be interconnected.
  • The G4224 headend has a special feature - it can power its clients (G4202TCP) simultaneously via the G.hn line - up to 600 meters away!

    The G4202TCP, for its part, can supply power to other devices (e.g. IP cameras) via its two Ethernet ports (PoE+ with 15W/30W up to 100 meters).
